§35a SGB VIII regulates integration assistance for children and young people whose mental health deviates from the age-appropriate state in the long term and whose social participation is thereby impaired or endangered.

The aim of this assistance is to enable young people to actively participate in social life and to promote their personal development.

The support can include, for example, the following measures:

  • educational support in everyday life

  • School support or school assistance

  • socio-educational support

  • Individual support to stabilize personal development

Support for children and young people with special educational needs

Die Eingliederungsförderung von Cocoon – Jugend und Familienhilfe e.V. richtet sich an Kinder und Jugendliche, die aufgrund seelischer Belastungen oder Entwicklungsbeeinträchtigungen Unterstützung benötigen, um aktiv am gesellschaftlichen Leben teilnehmen zu können.

The aim of this assistance is to provide young people with the necessary support so that they can develop their personal skills, build social relationships and manage their daily lives as independently as possible.

Our work is based on the legal foundations of child and youth welfare as well as on the individual needs of the children and young people affected.

Target audience

Children, adolescents and young adults,

  • with mental or physical impairments
  • with support needs in the school or social area
  • with a special need for social participation

Die Schulbegleitung (auch Schulassistenz genannt) unterstützt Kinder und Jugendliche, die aufgrund seelischer oder sozialer Herausforderungen Hilfe benötigen, um am schulischen Alltag teilzunehmen.

The aim of this support is to enable students to participate consistently in lessons and to promote their academic and social development.

School support is provided in close cooperation with the school, the parents and – if necessary – the responsible youth welfare office.

Our educational professionals accompany children and young people in their everyday school life and support them in coping better with lessons and the social environment of the school.

Support can include, among other things, the following areas:

  • Support in structuring everyday teaching

  • Promoting concentration and work organization

  • Support in social situations within the class

  • Support in building social relationships

  • Help with resolving conflicts in everyday school life

  • Promoting independence and self-confidence

School support does not replace the pedagogical work of the teachers, but complements it with individual support.

Successful school support is based on close cooperation between:

  • the parents or guardians

  • the teachers

  • the school

  • the youth welfare office

  • our educational professionals

Together, an individual support plan is developed that is geared towards the needs of the child or young person.

Cooperation within the framework of child and youth welfare

Cocoon – Youth and Family Support Association operates within the framework of the legal provisions of the SGB ​​VIII and cooperates closely with the relevant youth welfare offices and other specialist agencies.

Our offers are made within the framework of an individual Care plan procedure according to §36 SGB VIII Developed and implemented. In doing so, we focus on the specific needs of children, young people and families.

Our educational professionals work in an interdisciplinary manner and regularly coordinate with all participating institutions to ensure sustainable and needs-based support.

The work of our organization is based on professional competence, pedagogical experience and an appreciative attitude towards the people we support.

We place particular emphasis on:

  • transparent cooperation with youth welfare offices and cooperation partners

  • clear educational goal agreements in the care planning process

  • resource-oriented support for children and young people

  • continuous reflection and further development of our work
